ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) ----- A fire kills a dog at a home on the 600 block of North Second Street in Rockford early Saturday afternoon.
Once there, firefighters were able to contain the flames to the kitchen, avoiding damage to the rest of the home.
Luckily, the two occupants of the home were able to escape uninjured.
Loss is estimated at approximately $40,000.
The American Red Cross and Just Breathe 815 are working to find the family temporary shelter.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
